Why Websites Are Like Real Estate

There are so many people that suggest that I should get into the real estate game. To that, I usually reply by saying that "I'm already in the real estate game."

Most people are looking at websites as a nice little thing to have on the side of their physical business. That’s a cute little way of looking at it.

When people ask me what I do, sometimes I tell them that I’m in the real estate business.

I know that they assume that I sell houses. But when I reveal that I actually build, buy and sell websites, they look puzzled. I see this over and over again. And the more I explain to them, the more puzzled they look.

Websites are the real estate game of the digital world.

Just imagine that the internet is is earth.

Owning a website is just like owning land on earth. But unlike the land on earth, the land on the internet is unlimited.

Sometimes when you purchase physical land, you are still restricted by the rules and regulations of the city in which that land resides.

Governments tell landowners what they can and can't build on their own land. Right now there is very little regulations on the internet. This is good and also not so good. But in general, you have much more freedom owning digital property than there is in owning physical property.

When you buy or build a website, you are buying real estate.

Most people are not looking at websites like real estate. But here at Southern Web Developer, we are in the digital real estate game.

Each website we own is a piece of property that we own; and that property can increase our digital net worth.

Looking at websites in this way has allowed us to capitalize on some very amazing finds.

Since most people are confused or simply underestimating the power of the internet and the massive benefits of websites, you can literally steal business from right under the nose of your so-called competition.

I once scored the domain name of my former high school because they failed to renew their domain name for the following year. Mistakes like this causes organizations to leave massive amounts of opportunities and money on the table.

A website enables the average person

Before the internet an opportunity like that would’ve cost millions of dollars to start and operate.

  • Rent on a warehouse
  • Possibly renovating the warehouse
  • Purchasing all of the equipment
  • Purchasing all of the items necessary to run the equipment
  • Purchasing t-shirts, hoodies, and tank-tops in bulk
  • Hiring graphic designers
  • Hiring customer service support
  • Hiring a sales team
  • Hiring a shipping team

Marketing the product and services and tons of other unforeseen costs along the way…

But since we are living in this revolutionary digital age, I was able to start the company at price you wouldn’t believe if I told you. These days it’s all about partnership.

You’ll be surprised to find that large corporations around the world are eager to partner with someone just like you.

They’ve already done all of the hard work for you.

All you have to do is shift your mindset and become aware of the opportunity that resides in the palm of your hand.

When I say “the palm of your hand” I really mean the palm of your hand. I say this because most people are not aware of the fact that they can run a global business from their smartphone devices, with relatively no, or little financial investment.

It truly takes a shift in perspective to see what’s available for you in the world of the internet.

Here’s something that may put things into perspective for you.

Let's imagine that there was a piece of property for sale right down the street from where you lived.

You call the number on the sign, and to your surprise, you discover that the owner is selling the property for $500.00.

Even if you didn’t have the money at the time, you would find a way to come up with the money if you had the awareness to recognize and opportunity if when you saw one.

Well’ that’s how digital property is.

You can purchase a piece of digital property ( a website) for a very low cost, and turn that website into something that’s constantly creating streams of income for you 7 days a week.

There’s no limits to what you can do with digital real estate.

But unfortunately, the average person is desperately unaware of the richness that digital entrepreneurs are living in.

Right now you can acquire a domain name for $20 or so, and that $20 investment could be potentially with millions one day. But most importantly, you leave a trail with your digital footprint behind. You leave a legacy behind that people for generations to come will be able to access, and potentially benefit from.
